MSN emoticons don't come up with what they're meant to... help?

If i type an emoticon, it doesn't come up with what its supposed to ie - :S comes out as half an angry face on the left, and half an embarrassed face on the right hand side. I have Windows Live Messenger Beta...

WLM 9.0 beta has a bug that has probs showing the emoticons correctly .. this bug cannot be fixed so uninstall and install the WLM 8.5 version

once started search in the programs list for "(All Users) Windows Live Messenger [14.0.5027.0908]"


mark it with a mouse click, then click on the 'remove' button'

i think it is with everyone i know who has windows live messenger beta.. but i have no idea how to fix it.. sorry
