I'm receiving emails saying if you forward this email MSN will donate $10, $5 or whatever it is to Unicef. Another thing is that if some secret emoticons like *unicef and *help are used, MSN will donate as well. Is that true? If it is, can anyone give me a source for that? An official announcement or any documents...
Is there any donation aggreement between MSN and Unicef about email forwarding or using messenger emoticons?
The emails are fake, as there is no verifiable way for microsoft or anyone else to track emails sent. Just mark those as spam and/or delete them.
However, the emoticons on MSN are actually a real system set up by Microsoft, I've included a page hosted on the Microsoft website with more details.
Reply:It is an initiative that applies to Windows Live Messenger, but not to email. Basically the email version is just chain letter spam.
