No, you will not lose any of your emoticons when you upgrade to the latest msn messenger. I have upgraded my msn messenger many times but I have never ever lost any of my emoticons.

no you won't loose them, even if you delete msn and re-install it they will probably be there still; it is only on a different computer that they will not appear...

noone knows the answer! pls tell me where the hell are my msn emoticons in my pc? i tried to search them by name but i couldnt find the file? pls help bcs i wanna find them and burn them on disc in order to use them on other computers

where SOME_NUMBER is some random number that I have no idea what it means. The emoticons are saved as dat files. If you right click on one and choose "Open with... Windows Image and Fax Viewer", you will be able to see the emoticon. Alternatively, once you know what kind of emoticon it is (animated or not animated), you may copy the emoticon to another place and then rename it to the correct file type.





Note: The "Application Data" folder is a system folder and is normally hidden. However, if you type the path in directly you will be able to go into the folder. Alternatively you may set your system to display system folders under Tools --%26gt; Folder Option under any folder. Make sure you don't alter anything inside as it may have serious consequences.

The same thing happened to me, love. The only way I got new ones (and some of the old ones that I used to have) was to talk to plenty of people and *steal* the icons as they come up on the screen. Just be patient, they'll eventually put them up so u can *steal* them. LOL. I have dozens of them, my addy is kiwi_mum1966@hotmail.com if u would like to add me as a new friend, :-). Reply:Click on the smiley thing, click more which is right under all the emoticons, clic create and find the image you have saved earlier on.








It's just easier to download new faces and upload them but if you wish to draw one your self, just go on Paint. Draw a little circle on as the face and two eyes and add all the features you want.

if you go to smileycentral.com or .co.uk you can download thousands for free they are great to use some of them talk!!
Reply:emotions are stored along the tool bar above where you type , click on smiley yellow face , then lots of emotions will appear , simply choose 1 and it will appear in the text box. but what you could also do is go the short cut way :) that would make a happy face :( that would make an unhappy face .

Reply:you can so to photo bucket and type in happy emoticons, and then if you c one you like just right click on it and click on save as. then go into msngr and click on the smiley, then click show all, thn click create, then browse for the image/emoticon that you saved, make a shortcut thn ur done.

How do you put custom emoticons onto myspace? i have a really good one of eyebrows being raised up and i want to put it on my myspace is this possible?

Ok. Follow this.





1) Go on msn, and open up a conversation. Type this emoticon into a conversation, but don't press enter.





2) 'Print screen' this page, so leave the conversation with the emoticon in it on the screen, and then somewhere on your keyboard there will be a "print screen" button probably labelled 'PRT SCR' press this and open 'paint'





3) Click the dotted line box in the top left hand corner of the tool bar which is a rectangle made of dotted lines. Then draw a square of any size on the paint document.





4) Right click, and click "paste". Then, your page that you saw before, should be in the document.





5)If it isn't, go back to the document and then click shift (the up arrow that's below the capital locks button) whilst holding the 'Print screen' button. Then go back to paint and retake step 3 %26amp; 4.





6) Use the same button that you used to paste the picture, to outline the emoticon, and right click and select "copy" then open a new paint document and click the same button, but then select "paste"





7) make the document small so you can just see the emoticon and not much white. Save it in your documents, and go on http://www.photobucket.com.





8) Here you can make a username and password, and open your files and find this paint document that you saved before, and it will upload.





9) Four codes will be displayed under the picture, select the "html/website" one, and copy the code. Then go on myspace, click "edit profile" and paste it into a section, and then click 'save changes' view your profile and it should be there!

Try restarting MSN, it may work then.
Reply:if you've just got a new pc or if you've restarted your old pc then all your custom emoctions will be gone because they're not saved on your computer. if this doesn't work maybe re install msn?

here's the thing: when my msn messenger was uninstalled i lost all my emoticons that i had from the previous conversations. now i have collected a lot of new emoticons and i wanted to know is there any file or folder on my computer where i can find that emoticons and save them or copy them so they don't get erased the next time i uninstall messenger?

Reply:I'm not sure about making your own but you can take animated pictures and put them on as an emotion, you can find those on places like photobucket.com you can also get single emotions and emotion packs on deviantart.com

I like making my own emoticons for msn messenger n i lurve digital editing but each time i make a .gif for msn messenger the file gets shrunk to about 50*50 pixels.


I was wondering if anyone knew how to make the gifs appear larger like the size that places like Smiley Central have (theres is BIG! compared to mine)...

I only made some gifs for my homepage - so i have only a general idea where You can try to look.





How big the gifs are is dependent on the size You worked in and the size You saved them. There might be a shareware restriction or bug in the program that You use (mine cannot save certain size gifs as avi - which i use as throbber.avi for my favorite browser). Else: the width and the height HTML tag are able to re-size gifs - please try to check whether the default settings of the messenger are 50x50.





You do that by saving the message as file %26amp; with a look into the source code. I do not use man MS programs so i can not look.





And can have a look at Your gif with another graphics viewer e.g. irfan view or a browser.





50x50 seems big enough for emoticon.


Remember that kb size grows fast with up to^2 for each frame.





Violation Notice: they seem arbitrary sometimes - i have not yet received one myself but have seen some ppl complaining. I agree Yours was just as unfair as the others i have seen.

Hi, if you have msn live msngr, open a conversation box with someone, and above where you type the message, there is a picture of a :)Click on that and it will show a few more smiles, at the top of that new box, it advertises some smiley packs and click on any one of them. It will say 'automtaically singing you in' or something.


Many of these packs are free and very cute, there are themed packs and yoy can get emoticons, winks or display pictures.

It's a free tool to use, But you have to find your Passport Unique ID. This is somewhere in the settings page, it took me 20 mins to find at first but then it'll work flawlessly. You can backup DP's, emoticons, and all the other things you wish such as backgrounds and it'll restore it.

by download, i take it you mean installers... programs that you run that automatically add them... because anything done on the internet downloads something in some way...

or something similar... you'll find a website in no time that'll have hundreds of images that you can right click on and save like a normal picture (cos they are) then add them in msn, by going into your emoticons, and clicking create...

I downloaded the msn messenger beta and I love it but I can see my emoticons when I type them?

Open a conversation window with any one of your contacts, click on the emoticon icon and go to show all. Select the emoticon you wish you fix and click modify. Where it says "Keyboard Shortcut" change the shortcut to "haha" (without the quotations). Now when you say something like "that's funny haha you're a laugh riot" the word "haha" will be replaced with the emoticon.





If you DON'T want this to happen every time you say "haha" but you would like to easily be able to access that emoticon, just put brackets around it in the Keyboard Shortcuts field like this "(haha)" (without quotations again) and then typing the same phrase above "that's funny haha you're a laugh riot (haha)" would show the text the first time, and the emoticon the second time.

search for free msn emoticons on google. But make sure you dont download them.. these ones include viruses. You should just be able to right clik and save the file. thn add the emoticon using msn. This way you cant get a virus, just avoid downloading packs. Try mess.be :)

MSN custom emoticons keep getting resized?

I have a problem where my custom emoticons keep getting resized/minimized when I upload them into MSN. I know that this is because MSN automatically resizes emoticons that are too large, but does anyone know a way in which I can keep the original size of my emoticons?





I saw a reply to a similar question that said 'you have to disable the resizing.' If this is the case, how do I do that?





Also, reinstalling MSN or upgrading does not work.

No, from my knowledge, there is no way to resize a MSN Custom Emoticon.
Reply:It does resize them, but there is a maximum limit to how big it will be. So if you have a really big animation, it will resize it to the maximum allowed size, which is around 50x50....





but if your animation is smaller than the limit, it wont be resized at all

Msn emoticons show up as letters and numbers ?

The past week, when I send an emoticon (smile face) it shows up on the "recipients " MSN box as letters and numbers ?!!?





I KNOW all my friends have the current version of MSN messenger as I do, And I have NEVER had this problem before !





Please help !!

Msn emoticons aren't working! what should i do?

I just got a new macbook and installed the latest version of msn onto it! The only problem is that some of the emoticons don't work. The one's that come with it work fine but it's newer ones that other people have that don't.





They seemed to work on my other computer fine before i got this one! and it was the same version.

The emails are fake, as there is no verifiable way for microsoft or anyone else to track emails sent. Just mark those as spam and/or delete them.
